Daniel Barenboim: In the beginning was sound
"In this year's Reith Lectures musician and conductor Daniel Barenboim
discusses the interplay between music and society."
Lecture 1: In the Beginning was Sound
"St John said, "In the beginning was the word", while
Goethe claimed that, "In the beginning was the deed". But my
contention is: In the beginning was sound."
Lecture 2: The Neglected Sense
"In Chicago I will be trying to rescue "the neglected
sense" - the ear - and launch a campaign against muzak."
Lecture 3: The Magic of Music
"In Berlin I will argue that we have lost the ability to
make value judgements about public standards - all because of
political correctness and bad education."
Lecture 4: Meeting in Music
"In the first of my lectures from Jerusalem I will talk
about how music is the great equaliser as I have discovered in my
West-Eastern Divan Orchestra which brings together young Arab and
Israeli musicians."
Lecture 5: The Power of Music
"We end in Jersualem to explore power. Music has shown me
that there is a fundamental difference between power and strength
which could map a new journey for our politics."

Muy interesante. Solo desearía saber si tiene subtítulos en Español.
Gracias.
Please can you upload the files again, I have tried streaming the audio from the bbc website and I keep getting an error. I am writing my thesis on role of sound in culture and I really do need to listen to these audio files. Thanks
